Mrs. Bryant dreamed about her husband when she was young girl. According to Dane Bryant, his mom was working as an elevator operator at the Schroeder Hotel in Milwaukee when she saw Boudleaux at a water fountain and immediately knew he was the one she had dreamed about, (Mr. Bryant was playing in the hotel lounge at the time). According to her son, Mrs. Bryant him at the water fountain and offered to buy him a drink and then stepped on the pedal and squirted him with water. The couple ran off and got married a few days after that encounter. wbir
The Gatlinburg Inn has kept their "Rocky Top Room" almost the same for nearly 50 years.
According to David Cross, except for new paint, carpet and a flat screen television, the room is almost exactly as it was on August 28, 1967--the say the Bryant's checked in. wbir
Rocky Top may be popular in East Tennessee but it's just one of many songs the couple wrote.
They also wrote "Wake up little Susie", "Bird Dog, "Bye Bye Love", "All I Have To Do Is Dream" and "Love Hurts" for the Everly Brothers. In 1975, the rock group Nazareth turned "Love Hurts" into an international hit. wbir
