BACON ROSES for your Valentine

You'll need:

About 1 lb. of their favorite sliced bacon, at room temperature

Wooden toothpicks

Kitchen Scale (optional)

The Stems--from 6 silk/plastic flowers (use stems only_

Rimmed Baking Sheet with a Roasting Rack


Lay out one bacon strip, and roll it up tightly to create a sort-of "puck." You'll want about 1.5 ounces of raw bacon for each "rose," so you may want to use 1.5 or even two strips slightly overlapped to get the proper size.

Secure the Bacon Roll with a toothpick, and set it flat-side-down onto the rack over the baking sheet.

Repeat until you run out of bacon.

Bake Bacon at about 325 F. for 60-90 minutes, or until very well cooked and browned.

Remove from oven, let cool just until you can handle them, about 10-15 minutes, and "skewer" them onto the flower stems.

Wrap in paper or stand in a vase and present them to your savory-loving sweetheart!
