(WBIR) The Tennessee Valley should not be sold, according to a recent study.
President Obama said in his budget that he's considering selling the utility. In response, TVA asked Lazard Frères & Co. to do an independent financial review.
Its study released Wednesday said selling TVA wouldn't do much to limit the federal debt. In fact, Lazard Frères & Co. said it could actually push customers' rates higher.
The federal government owns TVA, but the utility company doesn't get taxpayer dollars.
