A Kentucky woman has been killed in a fire at her Whitley County home.

The fire happened around 2:00 am at the home on Old Corbin Pike in Williamsburg. Firefighters told WLEX-TV that the house was fully engulfed when they arrived.

Family members told WLEX-TV that the woman woke her husband up after the fire started, and they started to get out of the house. The man said as he was going out the door, he turned around and noticed his wife was no longer behind him.

Firefighters found her body in a bathroom, and say she likely died of smoke inhalation. Her name has not been released.

Investigators have not determined what started the fire, but do not suspect foul play.
