A personal caregiver is a tough job, one that requires a lot of trust. Especially when the person being cared for is elderly and sick.
But authorities say an East Tennessee woman violated that trust when she stole the very thing that was supposed to make her patient, feel better.
Investigators in North Carolina say Catherine Cook pocketed prescription painkillers meant for the 88-year-old woman she was caring for.
According to WLOS-TV in Asheville, that woman was recovering from surgery. But instead of giving her the pills, authorities believe Cook gave her tylenol instead and kept the hydrocodone for herself, for months.
Cook is from Cocke County. She was arrested in North Carolina.
