Janelle Arthur faced off against four other female contestants and the only remaining guy Wednesday on American Idol.

The contestants had to come up with a song using the theme "Songs I wish I wrote." The performances also featured songs from Hal David and Burt Bacharach.

Arthur sang "I'll Never Fall in Love Again." The judges were highly critical. Nicki Minaj said the performance was boring, and the other judges weren't as harsh.

While they said it wasn't her best performance, they did say she still has some good range. They liked her second performance, when she sang "The Dance" by Garth Brooks much better.
