Vol State Head Baseball Coach Mike Crossland was arrested Monday for being married to two women.

Crossland, 37, was arrested and charged Monday with one misdemeanor count of bigamy in Fayetteville. Crossland was booked into the Lincoln County Jail in Fayetteville and released about three hours on a $500 bond, his booking report shows.

This is the ninth season for Crossland as a head coach for the Pioneers baseball team at Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin. It is his 15th season as a coach for the team.

Bigamy is the illegal act of marrying one person while already being married to another. Fayetteville is located in Lincoln County about 100 miles south of Gallatin.

According to the investigation report from the Fayetteville Police Department, Crossland married a 31-year-old woman in Lincoln County on Aug. 31 while he was still married to a 37-year-old woman in Sumner County. The report lists both women as victims.

Crossland is scheduled to appear for a hearing at Lincoln County General Sessions Court Nov. 14, according to his booking report.

Neither Crossland nor Vol State Athletic Director Bobby Hudson could be reached for comment Tuesday.
