A Hawkins County woman fought back after a man attacked her mother outside a local store.

According to WCYB, it happened last week at the Dollar General in Church Hill.

Sandra Lane says she was walking up to the store when the man smiled at her, then hit her, knocking the wind out of her. Her daughter then jumped out of the car to help.

"I started hitting him, I started hitting him in the back of the head to tell him to get off of my mom," said Jessica Cradic.

The man ran off before the women could call 911.

Lane has multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy. She believes her attacker was preying on someone who is disabled to get money or drugs.

The Hawkins County Sheriff's Ofifce says it's looking for two men in their late 30s or 40s. They may be driving a late-90s model black Ford Ranger.
