Organizers are expecting more than 1,000 cyclists in Market Square Thursday to participate in a leisurely ride through Knoxville's downtown and historic areas called the Tour de Lights.

People are invited to decorate their bikes for the Christmas season and come dressed in a holiday-themed costume. Planner Kelley Seagers says there will be a panel to judge best decor.

She says the route will be shutdown to motor vehicle traffic for the first time this year because the event has grown so large. The ride starts at 7 p.m. from Market Square but riders are encouraged to come early for registrations.
