A new concept in Knoxville automates the spa experience. Planet Beach is opening in Turkey Creek with another planned in Bearden.
(WBIR-Farragut) A trip to a spa usually involves someone giving you a massage or a facial or a pedicure. A new concept in Knoxville automates the spa experience.
"A lot of our services are not offered anywhere else," Nina Morgan said.
Her new spa in Turkey Creek is an automated spa.
"All of our services are automated meaning they're all machinery," she explained.
Nina Morgan and her husband are putting the finishing touches on Planet Beach, the first one in Tennessee. Everything should be in place for the grand opening next Monday March 17. Most of the machines have arrived including a massage chair. No masseuse needed.
"One of our massage services is the dream wave and it's actually a very high end massage chair. So it's a shiatsu pressure point massage, it lays completely flat, and it massages your hands and feet," she said.
Each room in the spa features a different service. Customers push a few buttons to start the service without an attendant. The sunless spray tan booth is one of Nina's favorite along with several versions of red light therapy.
"We have red light therapy which is something not a lot of people have heard of and not a lot of people offer," she said.
The light turns on and the device promises to turns back time.
"Fine lines and wrinkles, dark circles, uneven skin tone, acne, stretch marks, you name it it's just specific for anti-aging," she said.
Still to come are teeth whitening, hydration treatments, and oxygen therapy.
"Coming we have our slim capsule. It's actually a high infrared heat sauna capsule. It warms up to 178 degrees. On average people burn between 500 and 600 calories while they are in there," she said.
Planet Beach is offering special rates right now for its flat fee plan.
"You can come as much as you want and use all the services as much as you want," she explained.
Services you can use with a push of a button.
Planet Beach plans to open a second location this summer in Bearden.
