A dysfunctional family tries to escape the past and seize the future in this hilarious live performance at the Jubilee Center this weekend.


(WBIR-Powell) Powell Playhouse presents the comedy "Crimes of the Heart" May 29, 30 and 31 at the Jubilee Center on Callahan Road.

The scene is Hazlehurst, Mississippi, where the three Magrath sisters have gathered to await news of their grandfather, who is living out his last hours in the local hospital.

It tells the story of how its young characters escape the past to seize the future. It is touching and hilarious.

Tickets are $10 for all performances with a $5 senior discount for the matinee, and can be purchased at the door.

Dinner and lunch will also be offered with each performance. Dinners prior to evening performances are $15 and the lunch price is $10. For meal reservations and times, please call the Jubilee Center at 865-938-2112.

This is the 11th production by the Powell Playhouse. It was the dream of founder Nita Buell-Black, who passed away this past February. Carrying on as PPH President, and show director is Gina Jones, Nita's former student, long-time friend, and a frequent actor for PPH.
