(WBIR) Three suspects are in custody following an officer-involved shooting Friday morning on I-75 near the Philadelphia exit, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
A trooper pulled 50-year-old Nessie Brotherton over for suspicion of DUI at about 8:15 a.m.
The trooper, Eric Miller, eventually reached into the car to try to stop Brotherton from driving away. THP says Brotherton started speeding off, dragging the officer with him into the highway.
At that point, Trooper Miller fired four shots into the back of the car to get him to pull over. He freed himself from the car and Brotherton sped off.
Authorities arrested Brotherton a short time later at a convenience store in Philadelphia.
THP is finalizing charges against Brotherton and his two passengers, Daulton Brotherton, 19 and Ralph McNabb, 45.
