A longstanding dispute between family members left a man dead in McMinn County Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at a mobile home on County Road 213 just before 2 p.m.

According to the sheriff, the dispute involved several family members, but turned violent when Bobby Ghorley started choking Billy Goins. The sheriff says that's when Billy's son William Goins pulled out a handgun and shot Ghorley.

Ghorley died on the scene.

Goins has been charged with second degree murder.
