The Oak Ridge Fire Department received a big gift Wednesday, thanks to a national restaurant chain.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation gave a thermal imaging camera to the department. The camera detects body heat and hot spots in burning buildings.

Firehouse Subs bought the equipment with money raised inside its restaurants.

Oak Ridge fire officials say they're thankful to have a new tool for fire fighting.

"You know, having up-to-date equipment is fantastic. It's no different than us with our cell phones or computers, we always want the latest and greatest, so it's just a great opportunity that Firehouse has presented us with," said Josh Waldo, Oak Ridge assistant fire chief.

Thursday, Firehouse Subs will donate first-aid kits and six automated external defibrillators to the Roane County Sheriff's Office.
