Dispatchers say the schools were locked down as a precaution because of a threat

All Sevier County Schools were on lockdown Monday afternoon because of an unspecified threat.

Dispatchers could not give us any details about the nature of the threats, but said the lockdown was "out of an overabundance of caution."

Dr. Debra Cline, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, said in a release that the schools were put on lockdown at the request of the Sheriff's Department. She said the threat was investigated and determined to be unfounded.

Schools were dismissed on regular schedule.

10News is working to get more information about the lockdown, and will bring that to you as soon as we get it.
