(WBIR) Four East Tennessee counties made the top 10 list for tourism spending in the state.

Sevier, Knox, Sullivan, and Blount counties were listed in the 10 ten of Tennessee's 95 counties, according a report issued by the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development Wednesday.

Currently, Tennessee is shooting to become a top 10 travel destination. Right now, Tennessee ranks 17th for the number of visitors and visitor spending. According to a recent report, 54 million visitors travel to Tennessee each year, injecting more than $15 billion into the economy.

The state's tourism committee is trying to come up with a new strategy on how to use an additional $8 million in marketing, hoping to raise awareness about Tennessee.

The team said they'll consider creating a specific brand for Tennessee tourism attractions that will bring people to Graceland, the Jack Daniels distillery, Dollywood, and the Smoky Mountains.

They hope to launch a wider marketing plan in major U.S. cities, create more festivals, and more youth sporting events.
