Authorities in Sevierville confirmed Monday that an arsonist was to blame for five house fires in one night.
On September 23, firefighters were called to a fire on Apple Ridge Way around 3:45 in the morning. While they were there, fires started at four more homes on the same road.
Fire officials were pretty confident then that the fires were intentionally set, and on Monday, City of Sevierville Fire Marshal Tommy White made it official.
"In light of evidence collected at the scene and the subsequent investigation to date, it is apparent that the five house fires were set intentionally," White said.
The fires were quickly brought under control, and none of them were occupied.
