A West Knox County couple accused of beating, burning and handcuffing two boys is in custody after a grand jury indicted them on multiple child abuse charges this week.

According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, Jessica Cox and Kenneth McIntosh were arrested at their home around four Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators say Cox's 14 and 16-year-old stepsons showed up at Farragut High School, handcuffed together and looking for help back in May. They say Cox kept one of the boys handcuffed to a kitchen cabinet for hours without food, beat him, and burned him with incense and cigarettes.

Cox faces 29 aggravated child abuse charges. She was arrested after the boys escaped and asked for help in May. The boys testified against her at a preliminary hearing in October, and the case was bound over to a grand jury.

McIntosh, the boys' father, was not charged until now. He faces 17 various counts including child abuse. They're both being held in the Knox County jail on a $200,000 bond.
