The son of a U.S. congressman hoping to follow in his father's footsteps campaigned in Union County Tuesday.
Weston Wamp is challenging Incumbent Representative Chuck Flesichmann in Tennessee's 3rd Congressional district. His stop at the Union County courthouse was part of Wamp's 11-county tour of the district.
He challenged Fleischmann back in 2012 for the seat held by his father, Zach Wamp. Wamp left the office in 2010 to run for governor. Fleischmann won that race.
Wamp says he tried to run a positive campaign, that focuses on the issues.
"Because our country is in trouble and I think we need people in Washington more than anywhere else who are willing to talk about the issues and stay focused rather than constantly kind of pivoting back toward the lowest common denominator which is blaming everyone else and pointing the finger," said Wamp.
Fleischmann was in
Chattanooga on Tuesday, speaking at the Women Entrepreneurs Symposium.
The winner will face Democrat Mary Headrick in November.
