Since the start of his papacy, Pope Francis has been called too controversial by some, and by others a trailblazer who will give the Catholic Church exactly what it needs: a realignment with modern-day thinking. He's encouraged Catholics to stop judging gays and he recently met with victims of child sex abuse. And now, it looks like he's pushing for the end of celibacy for priests. According to reports, during a recent interview with the founder of the Italian newspaper La Repubblica the pope called the celibacy requirement a "problem," and said he's looking for solutions. One comic called this statement a great example of what leaders can do when Congress doesn't get in the way. Another said allowing priests to marry won't necessarily solve the issue.
