Former Tennessee running back Jamal Lewis is excited about the future of his old position on Rocky Top.
Lewis was at Eddie's Health Shoppe on Kingston Pike Saturday afternoon. He met with fans and signed autographs. Lewis was there to help promote FinaFlex.
Jamal Lewis came to Knoxville this summer to speak to the team. He says he's excited about the VFL program that welcomes former players back to Rocky Top.
When asked to evaluate Tennessee's current backfield, Lewis pointed out one name.
"Jalen Hurd, great addition to the squad," said Lewis. "I think he's going to carry very well and be a great addition to the team and be able to help with this offense. He's very smart kid, very bright kid. You know, he's got half of the battle already covered, so he just has to go out and work hard and just do what he do."
Lewis was the 5th overall pick in the 2000 draft by the Baltimore Ravens.
