Apple is reportedly exploring tech life beyond smartphones and tablets.
According to a report from The San Francisco Chronicle, which cites an unnamed source, the company is weighing a jump into the medical device business.
Last month, Apple met with the Food and Drug Administration to discuss mobile medical apps. The Chronicle says is exploring sensor technology to help predict heart attacks.
Apple may also dip into the car market. The report also claims Apple met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk last spring.
Apple has been the subject of countless rumors on its next major device unveiling, as investors clamor for something new from the creators of the iPad and iPhone.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company plans to enter "new categories" this year. "We're not ready to talk about it, but we're working on some really great stuff."
One of those categories might be the rising wearables space. Several outlets have reported Apple is working on a smartwatch.
